New Year, New Deductible & Out-of-Pocket

January 1 marks the beginning of a new
calendar year for health plan deductibles
and out-of-pocket maximums. Both are reset
to zero and accrual starts over again.
It's a great idea to send a reminder to
employees. |

COBRA vs. Cal-COBRA for 2007 |

Has your business grown over the past
year? If you had 20 or more full- or
part-time employees for at least half of
2006, you will be subject to federal COBRA
laws. (Under 19 is subject to Cal-COBRA.)
Under federal COBRA the employer is
responsible for ensuring that all
notification requirements are met. If you
don't have a third-party administrator to
handle your COBRA administration for you,
call us. It can make your life a lot
easier, and in some cases, can be free!
Next month we'll cover some of the
COBRA and Cal- COBRA rules again, as a
refresher.

Employee Change of Address |

Have any of your employees moved? If you
receive notice that an employee has a
change of address, (necessary for payroll)
please make sure they also notify the
insurance carrier.
This ensures that their ID cards,
Explanation of Benefits statements and
other claims related information get to
them. For most carriers, they can login to
their account online and change the
information directly.
Some carriers also post subscriber
change forms on their websites. If you
don't have what you need, let us know!
